Jake Wright, Viking's alterationist, working at an industrial sewing machine on a clothing alteration

Jake brings a lifelong love of sewing and a sharp eye for sustainable design to the Viking alterations team. Their creative roots trace back to childhood, when their artist grandmother encouraged them to express themselves through paint, papermaking, and woodworking. At 15, Jake got their first sewing machine and began cutting up their own clothes to see what they could reimagine.

Jake went on to earn a degree in Apparel Design and Business Administration from Oregon State University, studying pattern making, fit analysis, textile science, garment construction, and digital design tools like CAD. Their coursework's emphasis on design iteration and critique sharpened their ability to problem-solve creatively and collaborate under pressure. That blend of technical training and hands-on construction skill lets Jake bridge the gap between inventive design and real-world feasibility — bringing adaptability, curiosity, and care to every project.
