Sewing Instructors

Whether you're picking up a needle for the first time or looking to sharpen a specific skill, our instructors offer hands-on lessons tailored to where you're at — on your machine or ours.

  • Learn to sew with hands-on guidance from Jake, Viking's alterationist and OSU-trained apparel design graduate. Sessions are tailored to your skill level, from mastering the basics to building confidence with your own projects. Bring your questions, your fabric, or just your curiosity.

  • Learn from a longtime sewing machine repair technician who knows machines inside and out. Whether you're getting to know your own machine's quirks or want a better feel for how machines work in general, David brings that same hands-on understanding to every lesson. He's also a maker himself — crafting his own clothing, wallets, aprons, and chainstitched pieces — and the shop's go-to for high-end jean hemming.

  • Learn from Sierah, Director of the Viking Textile Maker Hub and full-time seamstress behind Sierah SEW Fresh. With a passion for retro-inspired, sustainable apparel and years of hands-on experience running her own studio, Sierah teaches on both industrial and household machines — bringing real-world know-how to every lesson, whether you're just starting out or ready to level up.
